Nontraditional Occupations for Women (NTO) What are NonTraditional Occupations?
Nontraditional occupations for women are defined by the U.S. Department of Labor as jobs
in which 25% or less of the workers are female.
Why is it important to open up NTO for women?
Opening up nontraditional occupations for women simply reflects full and unrestricted
career choice and equal employment opportunity for all, regardless of gender or race. As
one-stop shopping centers for all members of the community seeking employment &
training services, Job Center service networks need to systematically provide ALL
customers with information about and services for the full spectrum of job and career
opportunities.
